Creative Inspire 245
$20.00
Released October, 2001
The Pros:Compact design takes up very little desktop space. Understated visual styling is attractive and unique. Great overall sound quality for the price - rivals speakers twice the price.
The Cons:Cloth speaker covers sport a very strong chemical smell that doesn't fade much with age. Bass performance is very weak, as is to be expected for the price. Cables are all 6' long, which can be too short for some desktop setups.
The Creative Inspire 245 is a bare-minimum, 2-channel multimedia audio system designed for users just looking to listen to music. It doesn’t offer high-quality audio, wireless technology, a remote, or magnetic shielding.

Featured instead are two low-powered 2W speakers that work across a narrow 90Hz-20kHz frequency range. Though the Inspire 245 is obviously of low quality, it has quite a fan-base, as many feel it is “decent for the cheap price.” Plus the volume can be turned up rather loud, though quality begins to further deteriorate. One noticeable complaint, however, is that the cloth covers on the speakers emit a toxic smell.
